Be fleetingly beautiful.
Hanayura was named containing the wish to express flowerily the harmony of the traditional Japanese instruments and brilliant dancing.
According to the change of time, we have so little chances to come in contact with the traditional Japanese performing arts today.
Under such circumstances, we have been training from childhood and were organized to make many people feel the traditional Japanese performing arts intimately and value the pride as Japanese.
We are trying not only classic performances but also new trials with a flexible mindset to familiarize and carry on the traditional Japanese performing arts.
さくら (Cherry Blossom): This song is very famous among not only Japanese but also foreign people.
涼流 (Chaste Flow):This is a Hanayura’s original piece composed of koto, shakuhachi and Nihon Buyo.
春の海 (Spring Ocean)…This song is one of the most representative New Japanese Music pieces. The composer wrote it imagining a beautiful landscape of Tomonoura which is a picturesque place in Seto Inland Sea.

Maki Matsuoka is good at the performance drawing abstractly and without preparation. She has held many audience participation performances and proposed a plan in the event that invigorate the local community.
She is exhibiting a series of “Small Abstract Painting”, based on the concept that makes arts more close and easy.
As literally, she draws an abstract picture on the canvas of 6 cm by 4 cm at the minimum.
From March 2018, she started the series of “纏う絵(matou-e)”, which is the works of art done on clothes.
*In Japanese, 纏う(matou) means put on and 絵(e) means a painting.
She gets requests from avant-garde dancers and pop bands to draw on their stage costumes and is making an effort to expand her style that utilize painting to other artistic fields than painting.
